Resveratrol Information

Just about EVERYBODY is talking about Resveratrol at the moment! And some wild claims are being made about what it can do. There are, as always, lots of quick buck merchants trying to make a load of cash by any means they can.

So HERE, you are going to get the real facts about Resveratrol. The first part is maybe a bit boring but you need to read it!

There are 2 forms of Resveratrol – trans and cis

Trans is the natural form and cis the synthetic form – then there are different strengths of Resveratrol – but many supplement manufacturers dont tell you that!

These range from 5% to 50% strength – many use the 5% strength!! Solaray are a reputable company but their strength is only 20%.

32 mgs of 50% strength natural form resveratrol taken once per day is equivalent to drinking several bottles of red wine per day

Another very important factor is that Resveratrol is extremely sensitive, stomach acid can significantly reduce its efficiency- it therefore needs to be enteric coated so that it isn’t released until it hits the upper intestine

Later I will be telling you about a company which only uses 50% strength and in its natural form and enteric coated and is 32mgs! but it also contains many other supplements which work with the resveratrol

Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound, it’s primarily found in:

  • red wine – natural form
  • red grape skins – natural form
  • red grape juice – natural form
  • mulberries – natural form
  • Japanese knotweed – synthetic form
  • and smaller amounts in peanuts -

What claims are being made for Reserveratrol?

Resveratrol slows the activity of inflammatory cytokines – these are considered to be a factor in cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

Resveratrol stops or slows the growth of herpes simplex virus

  • taking Resveratrol within one hour of infection seems to stop the herpes viral growth
  • it does this by reducing the proteins needed for viral growth

Resveratrol may also be beneficial in:

  • treating atherosclerosis
  • lowering cholesterol levels
  • increasing the good cholesterol levels
  • preventing cancer
  • protecting the body cells from free-radical damage
  • treating arthritis
  • preventing blood vessels damage
  • protecting against cardiovascular disease
  • alleviating of menopausal symptoms.

Now this is all very good, and it seems to be mainly true, BUT it’s considered, by those doing intensive testing on Resveratrol, to be only one of many compounds which together have the above effects.

So just taking large quantities of Resveratrol (which may be low strength) on its own is unlikely to have much benefit. Sorry to say this but it’s true

So What to Do?

First of all find a manufacturer who accepts the above facts. Then look at what their Resveratrol product also contains. Does it have in general:

  • other high strength anti-oxidants
  • anti-glycation agents
  • trace elements
  • mitochondrial stimulants
  • anti-inflammation agents
  • DNA repair agents
  • vitamins and minerals
  • anti aging supplements

and does it have in particular:

  • calcium D-Glucarate (a known anti-cancer agent)
  • milk thistle extract
  • indole-3-carbinol (when combined with resveratrol has powerful anti-cancer benefits
  • procyanidins

There are a lot of other essential compounds which work with resveratrol and there isn’t room to list them here.

So I will now discuss a product about which I am very excited. It has all the ingredients I mentioned above, plus all the ones which were too many to list.

In particular it has Resveratrol in a 32mgs 50% strength enteric coated capsule, plus all the other compounds above.

The company is probably the most trusted supplement supplier in the world and their website is amazing – it has detailed information on all its supplements with discussions on all aspects of health.

The customer service is beyond anything I’ve ever seen and the blog discusses the latest up to date health matters, at the moment there is a section on Swine Flu.

You can put questions to the guy who runs the blog and he replies with the most detailed answers.

Now you may think I’m going over the top about this company, maybe I am, but the reason is this – I’ve been taking their main supplement product for the last 2 years and I am so much more healthy, have so much more energy and I just love their attitude.

But really, the only way you are going to discover all this is to go and have a look round. Take your time ‘cause its a big site, but once you get the feel of it and start using their stuff, you will never look anywhere else.

So first of all, the company is Xtend-Life the supplement I’ve been talking about is Total Balance and I’d advise this as the starting point.

It will take time for you to learn all about the product but it’s worth it, start with just the Total Balance Unisex. It was the best decision I ever made without a doubt. They also have some amazing skincare products and some very focused products for male and female health, but start with Total Balance and go on from there.

When you click through to  the page you will not see any direct mention of Resveratrol as its only one of hundreds of ingredients. Read down the page to: Compare Ingredients - click on this and then go down to: Amino Acids & Specialty Nutrients - go down the list and you will see the Resveratrol daily dose. Just reading down the list you will start to see why Total Balance is so different to the other Resveratrol suppliers.

Change your own and your family’s health and life, take the first step by going to

Total Balance
