Acid Reflux Drugs come under FDA Scrutiny

During August 2007 the FDA stated that a review for safety reasons had begun for 2 PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitors)drugs - Prilosec and Nexium. This was due to 2 studies which looked at using these drugs in comparison to having surgery for the severe form of gastroesophageal
There are a lot of sites which state that they have Acid Reflux Breakthroughs or Treatments which work, the majority of these are useless, but these are worth a look:
An initial response from the study was that using these drugs could be associated with increased cardiovascular disease but later analysis showed that this may be caused by a bias in the study stats.
The final outcome from the study will be available in approximately 3 months.
The FDA isn’t suggesting that the drugs be used in a different way but is trying to be more transparent on possible issues of safety.
